Universal music group and multi - platform promotion

In what ways is UMG working towards integrating music with television?
They are starting to create programing around its current and catalogue artists, alongside developing new television formats, both music-based and factual.

Why do you think this is an important focus for the label?
This is an important focus for the label because they are going to be able to target all ages and different genders. because not everyone listens to the radio or where ever they were 1st broadcasting their music, but now they actually can target everyone because most people have a TV in their house.

Globe productions is UMG-owned but UK-based, with a partnership between globe and ITV. Why do you think it is important to UMG to open companies like thins in countries outside the US?
It's important for UMG to have companies outside the US because then they can get their programs to the UK. And also they are doing a 6 week series on girls aloud, there will be people living in the UK who might not hear about it if they are only going to be showing the series in US. This is also going to help increase their viewers.

Find out about the ITV program Popstar to Opera star, produced with Globe productions. How did UMG use the programme to promote its artists and songs? Why do you think UMG created a programme like this for a UK audience?
